1. Hourglass Worm Technology
Standard worm gears touch at only one point. Our SE-Series uses an Hourglass (Globoid) Worm Shaft. This shape wraps around the curvature of the ring gear, engaging 5 to 7 teeth simultaneously. This distribution of force exponentially increases the “Holding Torque” and shock resistance. For a platform carrying two workers and a bin of fruit 6 meters in the air, this multi-tooth engagement is the primary safety net against gear tooth shear.
2. Self-Locking Safety
Due to the high gear ratio (typically > 60:1) and the shallow lead angle of the worm, the drive is mathematically Autobloqueo. This means the input (motor) can drive the output (boom), but external forces (wind/gravity) cannot back-drive the input. While hydraulic brakes are used as a secondary parking measure, the inherent friction of the worm gear ensures the basket doesn’t swing freely even if a hydraulic hose bursts.
3. Enclosed Housing vs. Open Gear
Old designs used an open pinion and ring gear (like an excavator). This is dangerous in orchards where branches can jam the teeth. Our SE-Series is Fully Enclosed (IP65). 3. Do I need to grease it?
Yes. While sealed, the slewing ring bearing and the worm gear teeth require periodic greasing (typically every 50-100 hours). The housing has external zerk fittings for easy access without disassembling the unit.
4. What is the difference between SE and WE series?
El SE (Slewing Enclosed) series uses a lip seal for moderate environments (IP65). The WE (Worm Enclosed) series is a heavy-duty version with stronger worm shafts and higher torque capacity, often used for construction cranes. For agricultural platforms, SE is usually sufficient and lighter.
