To clear weeds under the canopy without damaging low-hanging branches or fruit, the flail mower must extend laterally. This is achieved via a Hydraulic Side Shift (Deslocamento Lateral Hidráulico).
While the hydraulic cylinder performs the movement, the Gearbox System bears the brunt of the engineering challenge. As the mower body slides left or right, the angle of the PTO shaft changes drastically. If the gearbox input shaft position is not optimized, this angulation causes severe vibration (the “cardan effect”), destroying input bearings and seals.

Coffee bushes are planted on terraces. The tractor drives on the flat, but weeds grow on the slope under the bush. The Hydraulic Side Shift allows the mower to reach 40-50cm under the canopy. Typically, the cylinder is part of the mower frame kit. However, for OEM partners, we can supply a “Side Shift Kit” that includes the Gearbox, the Hydraulic Cylinder (with hoses), and the Chrome Slide Bars as a complete pre-assembled module.
2. What kind of PTO shaft do I need for side shift?
For offsets up to 30cm, a standard PTO shaft is usually fine. For offsets >40cm, we strongly recommend a Wide-Angle (CV) PTO Shaft on the tractor side to prevent knocking during turns. We supply both types.
3. Can I convert a fixed mower to side shift?
It requires significant fabrication. You need a new headstock with slide rails. However, our HSS-Series gearboxes have universal mounting patterns (130x130mm or 150x150mm) that fit most frames, making the transmission part of the conversion easy.
4. How do I prevent the hoses from getting tangled?
