Before a seed is ever planted, the soil or substrate must be processed to an exacting standard. Unlike heavy field tillage which deals with raw earth, nursery soil preparation requires a much finer touch but significantly higher processing speeds. The Soil Crusher Gearbox is the critical component that drives the high-speed hammers or rollers. It must convert the input power (usually from an electric motor or small PTO) into the kinetic energy necessary to pulverize dried clay clods, compost, and pine bark into a uniform, fluffy texture suitable for filling automated seedling trays.

Engineering the “Dust-Proof” Drive
1. The Particulate Barrier Strategy
Nursery soil crushers operate in a cloud of fine, abrasive dust (silica, clay, limestone). If this dust enters the gearbox, it turns the oil into a grinding paste that destroys bearings in days. EVER-POWER implements a Triple-Redundancy Sealing System.
1) External Flinger Shield: A steel disc rotates with the shaft to deflect heavy debris.
2) Labyrinth Path: A machined tortuous path that traps dust before it reaches the seal.

2. High-Inertia Shock Management
Soil crushers often use high-speed hammers. When a hammer hits a hard stone mixed in the compost, the shock travels instantly back to the gearbox. To prevent gear tooth fracture, we use Helical Gears with a 20° Helix Angle. This increases the contact ratio (more teeth meshing at once), distributing the shock load over a larger surface area compared to straight spur gears. The gears are case-hardened to 60 HRC to resist surface fatigue.

Speed increasers (e.g., boosting 1450 RPM motor speed to 3000 RPM hammer speed) generate significant heat due to fluid friction. In the enclosed environment of a Brazilian greenhouse, ambient temps can reach 40°C. Our housings feature Ailettes de refroidissement optimisées and internal oil channels that direct lubricant to the high-speed output bearings, ensuring they run cool. We specify Synthetic ISO VG 150 oil which maintains stable viscosity at high temperatures.
4. Vibration Damping Mounting
Crushing soil creates high-frequency vibration. If transmitted rigidly, this can crack the gearbox feet. We design our gearboxes with Thick-Walled Cast Iron Mounting Feet and recommend installation on rubber isolation mounts. The internal assembly is dynamically balanced to G6.3 standards to ensure the gearbox itself does not add to the machine’s vibration profile.

1. Can I use this gearbox for a Stone Crusher?
No. The SC-Series is designed for Soil and Substrate (organic matter, clay clods). Crushing hard field stones requires a Stone Crusher Gearbox with much higher shock load ratings and a different internal clutch mechanism. Using this for granite/basalt will void the warranty.
2. What is the noise level?
Thanks to precision-ground helical gears, our gearboxes operate at < 75 dB(A). However, the crushing action itself (hammers hitting soil) is loud. The gearbox will not add significant noise to the nursery environment.
3. Do you supply the couplings?
Yes, we offer a range of Flexible Jaw Couplings (Spider Type) or HRC couplings to connect the electric motor to the gearbox input. These are essential to dampen starting torque and misalignment.
4. Is it suitable for vertical mounting?
Standard units are for horizontal mounting (IM B3). For vertical mounting (IM V1/V3), we must install special sealed bearings and adjust the oil fill level to ensure the top bearing is lubricated. Please specify orientation when ordering.
