Yes, we sell Gear Sets (bevel and spur). However, setting the backlash and bearing preload requires specialized tools and expertise. For most field repairs, swapping the complete gearbox assembly is faster and guarantees reliability.
2. What grease should I use for the spindles?
While the gearbox uses oil, the spindles themselves require a special 00 Semi-Fluid Cotton Picker Grease. Do not use standard chassis grease, as it will not flow into the spindle bushings and will cause them to seize.
3. Are these compatible with Case IH Module Express?
Yes. We have specific models compatible with Case IH picking units (2055/2155/2555). Note that Case IH units often have picking drums on both sides of the row, requiring a different gearbox configuration than John Deere. Please specify your model.
4. How do I know if the timing is off?
Listen for a rhythmic “ticking” noise (doffer hitting spindles). Inspect the doffer pads; if they are chewed up or grooved, timing is likely incorrect. Also, check for cotton wrapping around the spindles, which indicates the doffer isn’t stripping effectively.
